When my wife was pregnant with our first child, I wanted to give her the best of everything — especially when it came to what she was putting in her body. We were careful about every bite, every ingredient. But when I started looking for a Halal-certified prenatal vitamin that was clean, effective, and reliable… I hit a wall.
The ingredients were vague. The Halal labels felt like an afterthought. And when I tried to get clarity from the companies, I was met with cold responses, if I got a response at all.
I remember sitting there thinking: We’re in an era of precision medicine and personalized wellness, why do Muslims still have to settle when it comes to something this basic?
That frustration never left me. It grew into conviction.
A Problem Bigger Than Me
As an Imam and a graduate of Qalam Institute, I’ve spent years guiding people on how to live with intention and how to align their choices with their faith. And I began to realize this wasn’t just about me and my wife.
It was about all of us.
For decades, American Muslims have been quietly making trade-offs: Buy the effective product, even if it’s not Halal or buy the Halal one, even if it doesn’t work well. We’ve been told, directly or indirectly, that we have to choose between what’s good and what’s right.
But that’s not our only option anymore. We’re living in a moment where we can demand both. We can expect quality and principle to exist side by side, and we should.
Building the Solution
That’s why I created DeenFuel: to bridge the gap between wellness and worship. I partnered with nutritionists, health experts, and Halal compliance professionals to build something from the ground up, rooted in both science and sincerity.
